Dear Community,
At the Mount Morris Library, the safety and experience of our patrons and staff remain our top priorities. I am writing to let you know about a couple of important updates that the Board of Trustees is making to our space, effective immediately. These decisions were made due to the mistreatment of library property.
No-Smoking Policy
The Mount Morris Library has a no-smoking policy. Smoking is prohibited in all indoor and outdoor areas. This policy applies to all forms of smoking, including but not limited to: cigarettes, cigars, e-cigarettes and vapes, and other tobacco products. Library policies can be found here.
Library Parking
We have recently installed signs in our parking lot indicating that the lot is to be used for library parking only during library hours. Just a friendly reminder that while these signs indicate a specific time frame, the library parking lot is in fact not for public parking.
Enhanced Security Measures
We will be installing additional security cameras on our property. These cameras will be positioned in such a place so as to cover the front lawn and side lawn. They will be monitored as needed to help us respond quickly to any concerns.
Discontinuation of Public Wi-Fi
While we love being able to share our Wi-Fi with patrons and travelers while the library is closed, if we discover that the previously listed solutions do not resolve our problem, the next step will be disabling public access to our Wi-Fi network after hours. We understand that this may be an adjustment, and we appreciate your understanding as we work to maintain a safe and focused environment for everyone.
These updates reflect our ongoing efforts to provide a welcoming, secure, and professional space for all who visit. We hope that these changes will ensure the safety of our staff and patrons, and create a more secure environment overall. We thank you for your continued support and cooperation.
If you have any questions or concerns about these changes, please feel free to contact us directly—we’re always happy to talk.
Warm regards,
Kristina Corbett
